András Perczel graduated as a chemist in ELTE University in 1985. He received his PhD in 1989, and his academic doctorate (D.Sc) in 1998. Currently, as an employee of ELTE, he is the head of the Structural Chemistry and Biology laboratories, as well as the MTA -ELTE Protein Modelling Research Group. He made researches for and was a lecturer at many foreign universities such as University of Boston (USA), Toronto (Canada) and Oxford (England). He is co-author of more than 250 peer-reviewed English-language publications and has 5,000 quotations (impact factor > 550, H - IDEX = 36). Over the past few decades his research-group has carried out plenty of successfully research programs, thanks to the generous support of the tenders of OTKA, the Wellcome Trust, ICGEB, UNESCO, FP7 (East - NMR) and COST. András Perczel has active civic roles both abroad and at home: he is Member of the Academia Europaea and the Science Europea advisory board (located in Brussels), Chairman of the international conference series "Chemistry Towards Biology ", the Hungarian representative of the European Conference on Chemistry for Life Sciences, a Member of the supervisory board of the Hungarian Academy (2011), a Member of the OTKA College of Technology and Life Sciences (2012) and Chairman of the Scientific Council of ELTE. Highlights of his awards include Scientist of the Year Sanofi- Synthelabo (2004), the János Bolyai Prize (2011) and Scientist of the Year, Pest County (2012).
